Three dates, and only one of them is the release date
Wan 3.0 was released three times, in the way software usually is, and different pages latched onto different moments. 6 August opened the public beta. 13 August widened who could reach it on Model Studio. 24 August is general availability — the date the gate came off, the rate card went up and the wording changed from preview to available. When someone asks when Wan 3.0 was released, that is the answer.
The confusion is worth a moment, because it is the reason so much of what you will read is wrong. A model that ships in stages gives a writer three defensible dates and no signal about which one matters — and the writing done in July, before any of them, had a fourth position: not released at all. That position is still on the first page of results, and it is the one that costs a reader the most, because it tells them to stop looking. Every parameter the released model accepts.

Written before August and never revised. Some of these pages also score the model down for availability, which sends a reader away from a product they could be using the same afternoon. The release page has said "Available to every developer" since 24 August.

One upstream promotion still running, and the hour it ends
Alibaba put the Standard tier 30% off from general availability until 24 September 2026, 00:00 UTC+8 — so the 23rd is still a discounted day and the 24th is not. It applies to the Standard tier only, on Alibaba's own platforms; other resellers set their own terms. We are noting it rather than passing it on: our credit prices are not built on a promotional rate, because a price that has to rise when a supplier's discount lapses is not a price, it is a countdown. If you are budgeting a direct integration, that hour is the one to diary.

Two official pages, two different answers — and the rule for which to trust
Here is the thing that makes this question genuinely hard rather than merely mis-reported: Alibaba's own pages do not agree with each other. The release console announced general availability on 24 August. The English API reference still carries "Currently in preview" at the top. Both are live, both are first-party, and most pages covering this quietly pick whichever one suits their angle.

The rule we use, stated so you can disagree with it
When two first-party pages disagree, take the one with the later date and say which one you took. The release console moved on 24 August; the API reference header did not. A preview label that outlives the preview is a maintenance lag, not a second opinion — and the practical test settles it anyway: the endpoint answers, the rate card bills, and nothing asks you to apply. We would rather show you the contradiction and our rule than hand you a confident sentence built on whichever page we liked better. If you find the reference header updated, that is one fewer thing for us to caveat, and we would like to know.
The same lag is why a page with no visible date is hard to use on this question. Three of the top results for this query carry no revision date at all, and two of those describe a gate that came off in August.
Five things people expect to block access to Wan 3.0, and what is really there
Almost everything written about getting into Wan 3.0 describes the beta. The real friction after general availability is not permission — it is setup, and it varies enormously by which door you use.

None of this is a reason not to go direct — it is the list of things worth knowing before you decide the direct route is the cheap one. The rate is the part of the bill that is easy to compare, which is exactly why it is the part that gets compared.
